beauty scoop | emily baby & adult skin smoother

I’ve done enough damage to my poor feet via thin sandals and high heels that pretty much every night when I prop my feet up on the teacher man (he loves that), I beg for a quick foot rub.

While I can’t cure my foot pains (well, beyond wearing sneakers every day…no!), I can at least smooth them over a few times a week with the oldest moisturizing trick in the beauty book: sleeping with socks on over heavily moisturized feet. This is one step toward taking care of tired tootsies — plus it’s an easy, overnight task that requires minimal effort.

Back in the day, people raved about the wonders of Vaseline (petroleum jelly) on your feet: Slather on globs of this oily mess, slip on some socks and sleep. In the morning, feet are smooth…but still kind of greasy.

I prefer to steer clear of petroleum jelly; it just sits on top of your skin, forms a barrier and is never actually absorbed into your dry, tired feet. No thanks. My go-to uber-moisturizing treatment is Emily Baby & Adult Skin Soother. It has the same oily feel as Vaseline, but is loaded with the good stuff: olive oil, beeswax and herbs. It comes in unscented (which, honestly, does have a slight scent — I’m thinking it’s the olive oil) and lavender.

{Emily Baby & Adult Skin Smoother is a simple, natural and effective foot moisturizer — and a lot goes a long way with this uber-rich product!}

Unlike petroleum jelly, the skin absorbs this balm and quenches your skin’s thirst. If your elbows and knees are brutally dry, slap some on there, too, but be prepared to really rub it in. This stuff is thick and powerful, and a little goes a long way (which you’ll want it to because this magic foot lotion costs $14 a tub).

If you have extremely dry skin naturally (unlike me and my oily self), Emily Baby & Adult Skin Soother may just be your holy grail. Or do you already have one? What do you use on your feet? Vaseline users need not comment. :)
