The past 24 hours have been a flurry of intense emotion. A year into the pandemic, we are finally seeing vaccine rollouts in our communities. I am grateful for the opportunity to volunteer to help my fellow Kansas Citians get vaccinated - and to receive the vaccine myself. However, my heart has been heavy today as we feel the rage and pain in the Asian American community which has been targeted by acts of racist violence. Hate is a virus, and until we are ALL safe from systems of oppression, NONE of us will be safe. Science may be to the rescue for us when it comes to C19, but WE have to rescue ourselves from systemic racism, violence and hate. And by WE, I mean YOU. Every single one of you - of us - can be the change. Interrupt bullshit microaggressions. Use your privilege to protect others. Don’t be a bystander. Speak up. Listen and learn.
