makeup of the day | georgia peach

My favorite lip color, hands down, year-round, is some derivative of a peachy-coral that takes the “my lips but better” thing a bit further.

It’s a fresh, juicy, always-summer-on-Kim’s-lips color that makes me feel polished and put together without feeling the need to constantly check my lips (ahem, red); get too many stares (hello, deep burgundy); or be mistaken for a bubblegum K-pop princess (sigh, bright pink).

This is my favorite way to wear shades of peach during warm weather.

I can’t tell if Anya approves.

*Araza Natural Beauty 7-1 Coconut Creme Foundation in Co. 13

If you like Kjaer Weis’ foundation, you’ll like Araza Natural Beauty’s non-GMO coconut oil-based foundation. It’s got buildable coverage and is loaded with potent plant oils such as jojoba, rosehip, argan and neem to nourish the skin while evening out its tone with natural minerals. Araza has a handy foundation color guide to help you pick your perfect match.

Cailyn Gelux Eyebrow Filler in 06 Oak

Though I’m usually loyal to brow powders, Cailyn’s Gelux Eyebrow Filler allows me to draw on the precise shape I want with its gel formula and then mimic the look of fine hairs in the sparse inner brow area. The waterproof formula works well on hot, humid days, yet is easy to remove with an oil cleanser.

*Simple Beauty Minerals Bronzer in Glimmer Bronze

With just a hint of shimmer and a deep sunkissed hue, Simple Beauty Minerals’ bronzer keeps your skin looking fresh instead of dirty or orange, like many bronzers can do to your complexion. This loose mineral bronzer can easily be blended in with your favorite tinted moisturizer for a dewy glow, or used to warm up the skin in strategic areas when working with a combination of powders and creams. I used it in the hollows of my cheeks, on my jawline and on my forehead for a bit of color and gentle sculpting.

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Desired Glow

A natural deep tan that looks good on everybody, Kjaer Weis’ “Desired Glow” is one of the most coveted cream blushes from the makeup artist’s namesake collection. It gives you that I-just-got-back-from-the-islands look without appearing too dark, and it’s easily wearable year-round for a more neutral, natural flush with very little pink in it.

*Purminerals Lipstick in Georgia Peach

This has been my go-to lipstick lately (and the inspiration behind the title of this post!). The creamy formula makes it easy to swipe and go. The color payoff is fantastic. And the packaging (with a little “Cheers!” on the tube, a nod to the inclusion of wine grape-derived ingredients) is cute. While this isn’t the purest lipstick (it does contain some red/yellow/blue color agents), it’s a nice in-between for someone who may not have access to other lines.

Youngblood Minerals Lip Liner Pencil in Sequin

When coral-peach is your go-to lip color, you need the matching lip liner — and for me that’s Youngblood Minerals’ Lip Liner Pencil in Sequin. I bought this at a beauty party, and don’t see the color “Sequin” online, but Youngblood offers a variety of shades that may work for your lips (and your preferred lip color). This formula has some shimmer and is a non-waxy, non-slippery texture that easily binds color and shape to the lips, defining them while keeping your lipstick in place.

*Living Nature Thickening Mascara in Jet Black

For this look, I opted to forgo curling my lashes (I usually never skip this step!) to see how Living Nature’s Thickening Mascara worked on my stick-straight lashes. Not disappointed. The formula has a nice consistency — not too wet, not too dry — with a “stick” that fattens up lashes at first coat. While I didn’t have a curl, my eyes got this sexy, dramatic look to them that didn’t feel over the top, yet was definitely “done.” The formula didn’t flake or run on me, but because it’s a thickening formula, you’ve got to be mindful of clumping. Wiggle that wand from root to tip and help separate your lashes a bit with a great lash comb or, if you fancy, a safety pin (only for the experienced!).

*bareMinerals Round the Clock Waterproof Eyeliner in Midnight

To enhance the dramatic look of my lashes, I opted for bareMinerals’ waterproof eyeliner pencil, which feels like a gel, but is actually a pencil. It gave my eyes a thick, patent-leather lash line with a kitten flick at the end for a little flirtation. It takes a bit to remove this — maybe two rounds of oil cleansing — but it’s worth the effort if you’re better with a pencil vs. a liquid liner pen, which is a little less forgiving.

*Lily Lolo Laid Bare Eye Palette

I live and die by neutral shadows. All of the browns and taupes and golden hues are different, OK?! And when it comes to texture, Lily Lolo’s eye shadows have the silkiest feel — yet are convenient, preferred pressed shadows for clutzes like me. I used the lightest shades in this palette to gently sculpt my eyes; this look was really all about lashes and lips, but a little accent color on the lids pulls it all together.
