Katharine L’Heureux Kahina Giving Beauty

“Everything in the Kahina line honors the Berber women. They are the artisans. They are the heroines behind making this beautiful product.”

I’ve been familiar with Kahina Giving Beauty products for the past few years. Thanks to the power of Twitter, I’m thrilled to share a little more insight into brand founder Katharine L’Heureux’s natural beauty routine and beauty philosophy.

As you’ll see in Katharine’s beauty picks, she believes in using products that do double duty — they have to work hard for you to deliver the results you want, and they have to be gentle on the environment.

For her own line, though, I feel like Katharine raises the bar even higher — triple duty — because she also wants her products to make an impact on the women who help produce them.

Argan oil, the star ingredient in Kahina Giving Beauty products, has a strong connection to empowering Moroccan women. Kahina Giving Beauty helps tell the story of the Berber women of Morocco who extract argan oil to sustain their families and their cultures.

Because she believes in the power of women helping women, Katharine also put philanthropy at the heart of her brand.

She funded the organic certification of a women’s cooperative to allow them to more successfully participate in the international argan trade. This is good for both the women working to extract this precious oil and for the women (people like you and me) who choose to use certified organic argan oil on their skin.

Though Katharine has an amazing beauty company under her belt, she uses more than just argan oil in her everyday routine. Check out the other double- and triple-duty natural products she swears by on a daily basis.

And if you haven’t already, I strongly encourage you to try Kahina Giving Beauty 100% Organic Argan Oil. It will change your life — and the life of women in Morocco.

(As usual, I’ve starred the items that I also use and love as well.)

RMS “Un” Cover-Up in #33

“This creamy coconut oil-based formula evens out skin tone and hides any redness. I like that it’s a spot treatment, non-drying and made from top-notch ingredients. I know RMS’ founder, Rose-Marie, and completely trust everything she puts on the market.”

RMS Lip2Cheek in Promise

“I love multi-functional beauty products and this can go, as the name suggests, on lips or cheeks, and application is a cinch. I dab on apples of cheeks and then blend for a natural flush.”

*Kahina Giving Beauty Toning Mist

“Toning Mist is my savior, especially as it gets warmer and warmer out. I am constantly on the move — on planes or just running errands — and I spritz this on throughout the day as a refresher. The rose smells amazing, aloe vera calms and the sodium hyaluronate acts as a weightless moisturizer.”

*Ilia Lip Conditioner in Shell Shock

“Ilia’s lip conditioner is 100 percent non-drying, packs a nice color punch and is formulated with clean ingredients. I can apply and reapply throughout the day without worrying about lead or any other harmful chemicals. Shell Shock is a sweet, punchy pink — perfect for spring.”

Jane Iredale Eye Pencil in Black/Brown

“Everybody needs eyeliner. Jane Iredale’s clean formula gives some definition to my eyes. Kristen Arnett from Green Beauty Team recently showed me how to do a cat eye, so I’ll be experimenting with that next.”

Couleur Caramel Long Eyelashes Mascara in 01/Black

“A natural mascara is hard to find. Makeup artist Jessa Blades, my original green beauty guide, introduced me to this one, which she swears is the best out there.” Eye Shadow in Muholland

“I just discovered this brand at ABC Carpet & Home’s apothecary, one of New York’s top destinations for clean beauty. I swipe some on my lids to give crease definition. Bonus: It’s totally affordable.” may include affiliate links to featured products. Not all product links are affiliate links. If you make a purchase from an affiliate link, earns a small commission.
