beauty scoop | purely you minerals mineral foundation

Because I’ve dealt with acne-prone skin since I was about 11, I’ve almost never felt comfortable without a full face of foundation.

I wore thick foundation for years, even opting for those old-school acne medicine plus foundation formulas in my teen years in hopes of treating while covering my blemishes.

What I now know is that I must allow my skin to breathe. One of the best ways to get coverage without the mask of heavy foundation is by embracing minerals.

purely you minerals mineral foundation

{Purely You Minerals reintroduced me to the magic of mineral makeup by gifting me this mineral foundation. A container of Purely You Minerals Mineral Foundation costs $13.}

It has taken me a while to come around to mineral makeup. I make a mess and overanalyze every centimeter of skin for discoloration or blemishes.

I’ve learned to let this go and let my skin breathe.

My reintroduction to mineral makeup came from the loving care of the good folks at Purely You Minerals, who make small batches of gluten-free mineral makeup free of talc, powdered starches, clays, parabens, nanoparticles, bismuth oxychloride and other irritants.

Purely You Minerals makeup is also cruelty-free — I’m hoping this becomes the norm for all cosmetics soon!

If you remember from this makeup of the day post, I wear Purely You Minerals Mineral Foundation in Warm Fairly Medium, which contains just six natural ingredients: titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, mica, iron oxide, boron nitride and ultramarine blue.

Besides the fabulous coverage and affordable pricing , Purely You Minerals also gives 10 percent of all profits to the nonprofit organization Bring Love In, which provides Ethiopian orphans and widows with training, education and a safe home.

That’s enough to keep me going back to this purely good — in so many ways — mineral foundation.

Have you ever tried Purely You Minerals? What are your thoughts on mineral makeup? Tell me in the comments!
