Though skincare is my No. 1 obsession, makeup is what first led me to my interest in all things beauty.

As a little girl, I used to fawn over my mother as she applied her makeup before work. She had her staples: dark brown brow pencil, coral-pink blush, brown eye shadow, coral or pink lipstick and lots of black mascara.

Today, my everyday beauty look echoes that of my mother’s, but I do enjoy playing things up every now and then. When my naturally beautiful everyday look needs a little pizzazz, I go to the next level: Naturally Glamorous.

And of course, that’s where Citrine Natural Beauty Bar comes in to play.

Founded in 2012 by Melissa Lenberg, Citrine Natural Beauty Bar is the place to go for naturally glamorous inspiration. With a storefront in Phoenix, Arizona, and loads of online inspiration via its website and Instagram, Citrine Natural Beauty Bar makes it easy for you to update your nontoxic beauty arsenal and get to work on creating naturally glamorous looks that will surely become your staples.

I had a blast working with Melissa to figure out three fun looks for daytime, office-to-happy hour and for date night using all nontoxic beauty products available at Citrine. It really got me thinking about how I can mix, match and play with the funky colors and safe staples I already own.

Naturally Glamorous Makeup Look 1: Daytime Chic

My everyday makeup is pretty minimal. I like to even out my skin, brighten up with blush and pop on a very subtle eye shadow. If I’m feeling bold, I’ll play up my lips with a bright color.

I love ILIA’s Lip Conditioners because they deliver intense color, but can be sheered out quite easily. Plus, they are extremely moisturizing and oh-so-wearable — just swipe and go!

When I want to get away from basic brown, but still want to keep it pretty safe at work, I go for the gold. It’s a little more festive without feeling glitzy, and brings out the light flecks of honey in my dark brown eyes.

Naturally Glamorous Makeup Look 2: Office to Happy Hour

When it’s 5:00 somewhere and it’s nice outside, catching a drink with co-workers and friends is a must. While I don’t do much extra to primp for an evening drink, I do like to add a bit more color to my eyes to play up the flirt factor.

A smoky eye during the day doesn’t make any sense, but an early evening, subtle smoky eye with gorgeous shades of violet adds drama without overdoing it (because, remember, the sun doesn’t go down until about 8 in the spring/summer!).

That’s why the Jane Iredale Smoke Gets in Your Eyes palette is just so versatile. It’s got the various shades and degrees of purple but the color can be built up and thinned out as needed to create the perfect early-evening look.

Staying out later? Add a few more layers and a little bit of black in the corners and socket line for added depth.

Naturally Glamorous Makeup Look 3: Date Night

I love date night makeup. There’s nothing more beautiful than a sexy little cat eye, dark shadow and rosy cheeks while spending time with someone special across a candlelit table.

For special nights like this, I love dabbling with a bit of color for my eye shadow. An unexpected deep green brings out brown eyes even more, keeping the focus on your peepers instead of the makeup itself. That’s what makes makeup so magical — when done well, it calls attention to your naturally glamorous features instead of the makeup itself!

  • Sooo gorgeous Kim! I loved all of these looks on you, you’re really making me want all of the products you used! I absolutely love the smoky eye you did in the last look. I’ve been lusting for the Kjaer Weis Green Depth eye shadow and it looks so wearable the way you styled it. I’m definitely looking into Jane Iredale’s Smoke Gets in Your Eyes palette too now :)

    • Thanks Kasey! I love doing smoky eyes with something other than black/gray. Green and purple are so nice for us ladies with brown eyes! Green Depth is the only Kjaer Weis shadow I own, but I’ve heard the brown shade she has is really gorgeous too. I basically always wear brown and gold, but I LOVE HAVING ALL OF THE VARIETIES! Haha :)

  • You look lovely! It’s been awhile since you’ve done a makeup look post. I have got to try more from Ilia and Kjaer Weis.

    • Thank you! I know, gah. They take a lot to put together, but I’m always so happy once they are live. Taking photos of yourself vs products is hard!

ILIA lippies are my favorite. I have almost all of the lip conditioners. Highly recommend!

  • Stephanie

LOVE these looks, especially date night. Polished and chic :)
