Yesterday I introduced you to the new beauty startup, MIYU Beauty.

Today I’m excited to take you a little deeper into the brand — beginning with what’s inside founder Connie Tai’s travel bag!

Taken from the Chinese term ‘mei yuan,’ MIYU (pronounced mee-you) refers to the origins of beauty. As you’ll find in Connie’s edited line of facial mists and teas, her approach to beauty is pared-down and simple, allowing true beauty to shine.

She takes this approach for beauty on the go, too, sticking to the essentials — lip balm, lipstick, oil, tea and a mist.

There’s something quite refreshing about getting back to basics.

I hope you enjoy reading about her natural beauty picks.

As usual, I’ve starred the items I also use and love.

Pai Bergamot Lip Balm

100 percent organic and bergamot-infused, Pai’s Bergamot Lip Balm has me pressing my lips together constantly as I marvel at how smooth my lips instantly feel. The metal container is nice and flat, allowing me to discretely slip it into the pockets of my skinny jeans. Loaded with only good-for-you ingredients that won’t even irritate the most sensitive of skin types, this little jar is one of my new besties.

John Masters Organics 100% Argan Oil

Every evening, I like to take 2 drops of this 100 percent argan oil, warm it in the palm of my hands and press it onto my face. My dry skin drinks it right up, instantly appearing smoother, brighter and suppler. Residual oil on my palm is never wasted, because I then gently rub any leftovers onto the ends of my hair. I can’t even part with it when I travel!

*Bite Beauty Luminous Crème Lipstick in Pepper

It amazes me how a lipstick made with just food-grade ingredients can feel so unbelievably luxe. The color glides on effortlessly and I especially love that this rich mauve shade gives my lips an extra little pop, but is subtle enough for everyday wear. Each lipstick supposedly contains the amount of reseveratrol found in five glasses of red wine — how could you say no to that?

*MIYU Beauty Hydrate Mi Beauty Essence

I’ve always loved the convenience of applying a facial mist but I wanted something a bit richer, where my skin would feel instantly nourished. I also wanted the same kind of active ingredients that I would find in my regular serum. Our Hydrate Mi Beauty Essence is the perfect combination of all these things. I love how my skin feels instantly soft and hydrated and that I can reapply any time I need a quick pick-me-up. It’s launching in just a couple weeks!

*MIYU Beauty Hydrate Mi Beauty Tea

I find that when I’m traveling, it’s not always easy or convenient to make sure my diet is filled with antioxidants. I always bring at least a daily supply of my Hydrate Mi Beauty Tea to make sure I’m at least getting some added antioxidants during the day. Our tea is also unbelievably delicious, which makes it a special treat while unwinding at the end of an eventful day.  Can’t wait — this too will also be available in just several weeks time!
