Only a special piece of clothing can make you feel both tough and chic at the same time.
For me, it’s my faux leather peplum top I picked up last fall from a boutique in my hometown of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
I’ve paired this top with crazy sequin pants (hello, New Year’s Eve) and J Brand skinnies (on the red carpet during Kansas City Fashion Week), but for the office, I’ve found that this top can go just fine with a fitted, asymmetrical skirt.

While I do admit that this is a pretty dressy look for my business casual work environment, I like that I do have the freedom to dress up as much as I want with some creative flair.
But I will say, the gold sequined pants probably won’t be making an appearance from 9-5 anytime soon.
