holiday gift guide for the practical accessorista

Because I fancy the understated look when it comes to clothing, I try to spice up my outfits with killer accessories that make even the most basic T-shirt and jeans stand out.

But just because I let my accessories do most of the talking doesn’t mean I can’t ask for a little bit of both form and function.

For other “practical accessoristas” out there, I’ve rounded up some of the cutest, classic accessories that are on-trend, can last season to season and are versatile enough to wear with almost anything!

As always, my first stop for new accessories is Charming Charlie (I live within walking distance … dangerous!). After taking in all the bright, shiny baubles and body decor, I narrowed down my favorite accessories to these five key pieces (all under $25!).

Perhaps the accessorista in your life will love them, too!

1. Rose Gold Envelope Clutch, $24.97

Yes, this is a trendy shape, and yes, this is an “it” color. But if “rose gold” ever goes out of vogue, then you call this clutch “blush” and you refer to the shape as “foldover.” This clutch is perfect for the practical gal in your life because it’s roomy for an evening bag (even has a zippered pocket inside!) and comes in a neutral shade that’s fun (not boring black/brown/gray) yet not over the top.

2. Mixed Metal Chain Necklace, $9.97

You can’t get more practical than saying “forget wearing just gold or just silver — I’m wearing both!” If you have “mismatched” accessories you love, tie them all together by wearing a gold and silver chain link necklace that provides some thick visual interest. Bonus: You may be able to wrap this baby around your wrist to wear as a bracelet, too! Oh, how fashionable and practical you are!

3. Text-Friendly Gloves with Leopard Trim, $16.97

Why aren’t all gloves made like this?! This chic little tan and leopard trim gloves have sensors on the thumb and index fingers that allow your mobile device to be able to sense your finger so you can surf/social media/text away without going numb. The gloves are also available in black, but I love how the tan allows the leopard trim to pop a little more.

4. Hand Knit Headwrap, $16.97

Head wraps are everywhere right now, and for good reason: Who wants to ruin a perfect blowout with a big hat?! Instead, a head wrap provides enough warmth to keep your teeth from chattering while doing minimal damage to your hairdo (just carry a little extra travel hairspray in your makeup bag [link to holiday gift guide for the beauty addict] to touch up your headwrap hair. I love this deep burgundy hue with a the little black and tan feathered and beaded appliqué.

5. Initial Watch, $12.97

I’ve had a version of this watch pinned for quite a while, so I was giddy when I found it during my hunt (for a bargain!). If you can teleport yourself back to the early 2000s (aka senior yearbook picture time), you may remember the initial craze that flooded the junior highs and high schools. Well, it seems to be back, and though I don’t think monogramming ever really goes out of style, this is a more understated way to wear the trend. (Bonus for me: I can claim this is a “kimberlyloc” initial thanks to the classy Georgia font on my “k”).
