natural beauty buff | alison chace, wake up to a break up tv

“When I’m going through a breakup, I make it a priority to soothe, nurture AND indulge myself. My body, mind and soul need my full attention. I splurge a little. There will be another him in a minute.”

What’s scarier than dealing with a breakup right before the holidays?

(Well, I think The Walking Dead is pretty damn scary.)

But I think dealing with a breakup is worse!

Though the teacher man and I are crazy in love, we’ve had our share of ups and downs, including a pre-Valentine’s Day breakup during the beginning of our relationship.

That sucked.

I spent days weeping, feeling sorry for myself and barely eating a cupcake (yes, that was the exact one) to “nourish” my body.

I wish I would have had access to this new for-heartbroken-girls-only web show, Wake Up to a Breakup TV, during my short stint of singledom from the love of my life.

Entertainment entrepreneur Alison Chace hosts this lighthearted online show that empowers women to get through the rough patches in their love lives by taking care of themselves — mind, body and soul.

Around here, we’re focusing on healing the body. A broken heart takes its toll on your skin (stress acne! perpetual bad hair days! no desire to groom!) and your appetite wanes. If we can heal the body, the mind and soul may follow.

Below, Alison recommends her favorite beauty and healthy lifestyle products that she relies on to get through the breakup blues.

As usual, I’ve starred the items I also use and love.

Mario Badescu Healing and Soothing Mask

“After an at-home facial steam — a travel steamer will do the trick — I apply this healing mask to soothe that stress-induced breakup breakout.”

Yes To Cucumber Eye Makeup Removing Pads

Yes To is a natural skin care line that is free of all the bad stuff like parabens, phthalates and crappy boyfriends. With soothing calendula, chamomile and cucumbers, these eye makeup removal pads soothe my mascara-streaked eyes so I can stop looking like Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction.

Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta Glow Pads

An exfoliating self-tanner infused with vitamin D and anti-aging goodies — need I say more? Even if I feel like hell, this makes me look hot with a sun-kissed glow any time of year.

Shu Uemura Volume Maker

Still pining, haven’t showered in days yet need to look decent for work? I freshen up my limp locks with Shu Uemura dry shampoo powder.

Blueprint Juices

I know, who can eat at a time like this?! A breakup may be the perfect excuse to bump off those pesky few pounds, but as a busy working woman and mother of two, I have to keep my strength up! So I drink my meals with Blueprint juices…cosmos don’t count.

Rescue Remedy Stress Relief Spray

A homeopathic remedy to alleviate breakup-induced anxiety and stress. Open wide and spritz. I think of it as the natural Xanax…sans addiction.

*Bachelorette Bash by Essie

I do what Elle did in Legally Blonde when her boyfriend dumped her: Go get a mani and pedi! It makes me feel better in no time. Bachelorette Bash screams “I’m hot and single.”
