@kimberlyloc Physicians Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Jumbo Lash Mascara

It’s time to come clean with my mascara routine.

To be clear, I’ve never lied to you — I admitted to the Clean Beauty Blog that I was having trouble committing to a natural mascara.

But I am working on it.

When I had my interview with Sophie, I was using Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes! mascara. It was a fine mascara, but it dried out quickly and didn’t offer that va-va-voom that the dirty brands do.

Plus, as I’ve mentioned before, Tarte isn’t for the purists, and I’m still deciding on how purely natural I can be when it comes to cosmetics (you know how I feel about skincare).

Currently, I’ve been using Physicians Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Jumbo Lash Mascara. It’s been living on my lashes for about a week, and while it’s way cleaner (and easier to remove!) than my old dirty love, I’m not quite sold on it.

See how Physicians Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Jumbo Lash Mascara darkens my lashes:

{Look how tired my stick-straight, short Asian lashes make me look! This is proof that if I were stranded on a desert island, I would take my Shu Uemura eyelash curler with me (to hell with mascara! I’ll be in the ocean all day!). Photo by the Teacher Man}

For $9.99, Physicians Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Jumbo Lash Mascara isn’t too shabby — but it’s not perfect.

My biggest complaints are 1) the brush caters to clumps and 2) the formula can smudge a bit by end of day.

My biggest bravos are 1) it’s made with cleaner ingredients; 2) it’s easy to remove; 3) it’s affordable and easily accessible (I bought my tube at Target); and 4) it’s made in the USA.

I’ll keep using my tube of Physicians Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Jumbo Lash Mascara, but I’m also adding more natural mascaras to my to-try list. • How utterly adorable is that bottle! That mascara seems to have worked wonders on your lashes.

  • Hi!

I currently use Coloeur Caramel, the final effect is good (quite volumizing), but i noticed that at the end of the day is a bit smudged on my lower lashes…also, it tends a bit too clump.

I used also Jane Iredale, which i like better – it does not clum or smudge, but less volumizing effect – i reviewed it here

i heard that NVey eco mascara is good, too! And Ilia Beauty just launched their own

  • Sorry for the spelling in my above comment – terrible!!
I was typing on my Ipad and got soo many mistakes!!

  • @jenee isn’t it? definitely stands out in my makeup bag ;)

  • @clara haha no worries on the spelling! i definitely have the coloeur caramel on my list as well as the nvey eco. i will have to test the jane iredale too…maybe it will work for me? thanks for stopping by! xo

  • Carolyn

Nice! And they don’t test on animals. But the possible smudging worries me…I need something to last all day.

  • I’m using Honeybee Gardens- the volume isn’t amazing but it smudges less than PF Organic Wear and the price is right. I’ve heard good things about 100% Pure, Josie Maran… Well and Good NYC did an article on this, you could google it.

  • @carolyn agree. mascara is a tricky one to go natch with. but im determined to find a winner!

  • @michele i tried honeybee gardens about four years ago and it didnt work at all for me. smudge city by mid-morning :( im oily, so i wonder if that was part of it. i have definitely seen the well+good article and have some notes of brands to try from their report!

  • @michele ooh thanks for the links! i will read your review soon. xo

  • Try “Eyes Right” by Lush! It lasts foreverrrrrr and is buildable! We have a Lush store here in KC at Oak Park mall…it’s worth a try :)

  • @kristina everything is worth a try! i have avoided lush for several years because i cant handle all the smells in the store. perhaps i will order it online ;) hehe

  • This is currently the only mascara I use. I as well have had a really hard time finding a decent natural mascara. This is the best I have found so far. What I like to do is to use two coats of this (after curling my lashes) and then apply two coats of the other physicians formula organic mascara( which has a smaller brush and is easy to comb through and perfect for the lower lashes, it seems to add more volume when I combine the two of these. I am still searching for natural mascaras but so far I am loving the result of the two of these! my only complaint is the smudging as well!

  • @britanie great tip hun! i saw the other mascara at target and wondered about it, but chose this one because of the jumbo-lash promise :) i will have to get the other one and try the combination!
