tarte lipsurgence fever

One of my favorite tomato-red lip colors that almost always guarantees me a compliment from a stranger is Tarte’s LipSurgence Lip Luster in Fever.

While I really, really love this lip color, I will say that Tarte isn’t the most pristine green brand.

While it’s way cleaner than it used to be, and it’s way cleaner than most readily accessible cosmetics, it’s not quite up there with eco-beauty brands like Vapour and ILIA.

Check out the ingredients in the LipSurgence Lip Luster:

Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, castor seed oil, C10-30 cholesterol/lanosterol esters, isostearyl isostearate, polyethylene, polyglyceryl-3 diisostearate, bis-diglyceryl polyacyladipate-2, castor oil bis-hydroxypropyl dimethicone esters, calcium sodium borosilicate, pentaerythrityl hydrogenated rosinate, hydrogenated castor oil/sebacic acid copolymer, candelilla cera, cera alba, cera carnauba, caprylic capric triglyceride, peppermint oil, dimethyl isosorbide, stevioside, salicornia herbacea extract, limonene, palmitoyl hexapeptide-14, linalool, ascorbyl palmitate, tocopherol, soybean oil, calcium aluminum borosilicate, silica, tin oxide, mica. (+/-): Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), yellow 5 lake (CI 19140), red 7 lake (CI 15850), iron oxides (CI 77489, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499).

So…yeah. A few fillers and not-so-sure about them ingredients, but again, if you’re getting toe-deep into natural beauty products and prefer to be able to walk into a store and test rather than blindly order online, then Tarte is a great brand to see just how good cleaner products can be.

Ever used Tarte? What do you think of the brand and its greener-than-average products? Tell me in the comments section!
