In case you haven’t noticed the influx of pink in your neighborhood, it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
But something interesting that I’ve been seeing more of this year, now that I live in the Kansas City suburbs, is more attention to breast cancer survivors via “Back in the Swing.”
“Back in the Swing” is a nonprofit organization that started in Kansas City more than a decade ago that celebrates breast cancer survivors and their need to get “back in the swing” of life post-cancer.
It’s the the first and only national, grassroots nonprofit organization exclusively dedicated to providing awareness, access and financial support for multidisciplinary, personalized, post-treatment clinical and supportive healthcare as well as academic medical research in the field of breast cancer survivorship.
In hopes of spreading the word about this great organization — and answering many ladies’ needs for fall wardrobe updates — Jess and I are hosting a fun shopping party at Madewell in Town Center Plaza this Thursday, October 11, from 6 to 8 p.m.
We’ll have snacks, live models styled by local fashionistas and tons of fun going through the new fall clothes at Madewell, one of my new favorite stores, and the store will donate 10 percent of sales to support breast cancer survivorship.
Wearing pink is optional. See you there!
