Remember this little series I debuted at the end of August?
Well, it’s back, and I’m featuring another lovely colleague who always looks chic from head to toe.
Meet Barb, a PR powerhouse who talks the talk and walks the walk in oh-so-fabulous shoes.
Barb is the type of woman I want to grow up to be. She’s in her fabulous 50s and has a solid career, a classic yet on-trend sense of style and the most perfectly groomed tresses — and keeps it up every single day of the work week.
(I’ve yet to run into her around town on the weekends, so who knows, maybe she does don yoga pants and a ponytail on Saturdays? Or is that just me?)
When I started working with Barb, I first noticed her awesome accessories. You know I love statement everything, and Barb never fails me with her flashy bracelets and necklaces paired with simple tops or dresses.
And if you know me well, you know I judge people by their shoes.
Barb keeps it real with sensible kitten heels that are amped up with an ultra-pointy toe.
I think, though, what really made me notice Barb’s style is the way she mixes.
She’ll put on a bright jacket with intricate detailing over a basic gray skirt and top (and a top that is, mind you, 12 years old and still in great shape!) and throw in some funky, fresh accessories to make the look interesting.
Her look never screams “fashion victim” to me, yet I always think of her as one of the most fashionable ladies in the office.
For Barb, it’s all about making the trends she loves work for her — one two several bold accessories at a time.
Here’s how Barb’s look came together:
Top // Macy’s (12 years ago!)
Jacket // Dillard’s (similar)
Skirt // Dillard’s (similar)
Shoes // DSW (similar)
Glasses // Michael Kors
Lipstick // Lancome Curtain Call
Necklace and Earrings // Macy’s (similar)
Watch // Silpada
How do you try trends without looking like a fashion victim? What do you think of Barb’s accessorizing and overall style? Tell me in the comments section!
