favorite styles from the boutique sponsor showcase | kansas city fashion week fall 2012 | kansas city, missouri

While Kansas City Fashion Week has officially come to a close, I can’t help but relive the excitement through all the great pictures snapped and shared throughout the past five days.

You may have already seen my Boutique Sponsor Showcase album on Facebook, but today I wanted to get into the nitty gritty details on why I love some particular looks from our local boutiques.

Shall we begin?

{I can’t get over this outfit from Saks Fifth Avenue Off Fifth. Styled by my girl Jess of the fashion blog Mimi & Chichi, this look is both feminine and tough — just like Jess. I like that she incorporated this season’s it-fabric, leather, but chose a style that was studded to the max for a motorcycle-chic look. The soft, flowy top in a gorgeous jewel tone kept the look girly, but alas, topping it with some glam faux fur made it just edgy enough.}

{You can’t go wrong with an all-black look — it’s just a matter of accessorizing. This look, curated by Zafar Salon, Spa & Boutique in downtown Kansas City, marries soft fabric with a sexy, deep-V cut that is then topped with studding and fur. Are we seeing a pattern here? The edge! A topknot keeps the look sleek, and a big statement ring in a contrasting tone allows for a true statement — I am a badass — to be made. Once the weather gets cooler, I’d add in a pair of tights and short boots to keep this look going well into fall.}

{This perfectly accessorized look comes to us from R Treasures Boutique. The entire outfit reminds me of Kate Spade, with its clean lines and accentuated details and delicate accessories. I love those little gloves and the sweet drop earrings! The A-line skirt is flattering on any body type, and the preppy top keeps you covered without looking frumpy. I love the animated buttons, blocks of white on the sleeves and the over-the-top collar.}

{Here we go again. I can’t stay away from the leather looks combined with casual, drapey tops. But this time, in this look from Clothz Minded, we have tough pants paired with a slouchy sweater that looks cozy enough to snuggle up in by the fireplace. The hint of midriff is fun without being obnoxious, and the look can be rocked with or without the bare shoulder. The only other details I’d add to this look are a few thick cuff bracelets and some small stud earrings!}

{Aww, one of my favorite downtown boutiques — The Garment District Boutique Collective. I wanted everything that went down the runway, but this look had me ready to escape The Gallery and head across the street to snatch this up in my size. Where do I begin? The vertical ruffles? The cozy, long sweater? The surprise bow-tie in the back? I thought this dress was nice enough for a cocktail hour, but easy to wear in a more relaxed setting — as displayed in this look with the caramel-colored sweater. The teardrop-shaped statement necklace brought the colors together. I’ll take that, too!}
