If you’re like me, you may have come back from the long holiday weekend with a bit of flush to your face.
I spent some time at the lake with my best friend Liz and the teacher man, and I got a bit too much sun (so much for reapplying sunscreen!). While I’m not burnt to a crisp, my face is a bit pinker than normal, and I’m being careful to keep it from drying out by changing up my regular beauty routine.
First thing I updated was my face wash. I usually use a mild, soap-free cleanser (like this or this), but to give my face a little added moisture, I’ve been using Eminence Coconut Milk Cleanser in the morning and evening.
Eminence sent me a sample of its Sun Care Starter Set, which includes five small sample sizes of warm-weather products. I have a few favorites from this kit that I’m considering buying the full size, including the cleanser.
I like this cleanser because it almost feels like lotion as your massage it into your damp skin. It’s got a fresh, tropical coconut scent (made from real coconut milk, which helps moisturize, as well as coconut oil, a protecting antioxidant), and it also boasts soothing calendula — just what sensitive, sunned skin needs for a little pick-me-up.
I probably have about two more servings left in my small sample — then I’ll be heading on over to the DermStore to get a bottle (free shipping!) to last all summer long. I should probably be a bit wiser about packing enough sunscreen for my long weekends this summer.
What are your post-sun beauty rituals? How do you change up your routine to help heal overexposed skin? Tell me your favorite products and tips in the comments section.
