“Slow Beauty is about the gracefulness of aging, not the victimhood of decay.”

As the founder and Chief Creative Officer of SpaRitual, Shel Pink stays busy — but she knows how to take it slow.

Shel’s pioneering a “Slow Beauty” movement that can’t help but command the attention of stressed and overworked women everywhere who are just looking for a bit of time to breathe. This time to breathe helps us rejuvenate ourselves from the inside out, which leads us to beauty in a better way than any creams, masks or gels can.

“Slow beauty is holistic,” she says. “It encompasses inner and outer beauty, health and well-being. It isn’t about quick fixes and a denial of the aging process.”

With this in mind, I love sharing Shel’s product picks that help her bring her slow beauty practice to life. You’ll notice that her favorites below include products that help with overall health, wellness, prevention and expression.

Dr. Tung’s Tongue Scraper

“When I wake up in the morning the first thing I do is scrape my tongue.  When we sleep toxins rise to the surface of our tongue. Before you eat or drink something in the morning, be sure to scrape your tongue so you don’t swallow the toxins back down. Daily scraping also improves digestion. I like the brand dr. tung’s. You can find it at Whole Foods.”

Suntegrity Moisturizing Face Protection

“I use Suntegrity Moisturizing Face Protection daily. It contains uncoated Zinc Oxide, has an SPF of 30 and provides both UVA and UVB protection.”

Odacité Immortelle Refreshing Toner Mist

“I use this toner at night after I cleanse my skin. It helps to remove the excess dirt that has built up on my skin throughout the day. My skin feels refreshed and hydrated. This product is paraben- and petrochemical-free and contains certified organic ingredients.”

Gaia Herbs SleepThru

“It’s true, sometimes my Slow Beauty practice is challenged by my work and family schedule. Since rest is so important for rejuvenation, on the evenings when I have trouble slowing down from the busy day, I use Gaia SleepThru, a natural herbal remedy that supports restful sleep. It’s 100 percent vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free.”

SpaRitual Handprint Hydrating Hand Salve

“This is one of my favorite SpaRitual products. I use it every day, and when I do my hands feel instantly moisturized and soothed. It contains fair trade-certified shea butter, and the smell is divine.”

SpaRitual Soil Nail Lacquer Duo

“My latest favorite nail lacquer shades are “Back To Your Roots” and “Native Soil” from our Soil Duo. I’ve been experimenting with both colors together for a truly inspiring manicured look.”
