scenes from my weekend | a visit to northwest arkansas | fayetteville, arkansas

Jump to Comments

I’ve been long overdue to visit my family, so last Friday my friend Megan and I made the three-and-a-half-hour trek to Northwest Arkansas. Though we weren’t welcomed with the best weather (it was pouring rain off and on throughout the weekend), we did make ourselves at home at some of Fayetteville’s best shopping and dining spots.

While I managed to nab a few great finds to bring home to Kansas, I also brought home a nasty head cold. Megan made it back without the sniffles, but also without Arkansas postcards she so desperately wanted. Despite these minor hiccups, we had an otherwise perfect weekend in the Natural State.

{I rarely ever blow dry my stick-straight hair, so after putting in the effort, I was not about to let the pouring rain mess up my coif.}

{We spent most of Saturday shopping on College and Dickson streets. I'd heard of Grey Dog vintage before and finally got the chance to visit the adorable airstream boutique.}

{My sister-in-law suggested we hit up Lola Boutique off Dickson Street to admire the beautiful (and pricey) pieces. I instantly fell in love with these leopard print wedge booties, but, sadly, left them at the boutique for someone else to buy.}

{The last time Megan came to Fayetteville with me, we visited the Dickson Street Bookshop, which has an amazing collection of used and out-of-print books. I poked around in the travel section and got acquainted with my Scottish roots. I need to incorporate some red plaid into my wardrobe ASAP!}

{On the way out of town, we stopped at White Oak Station, a gas station that has a hip convenience store attached to it. While Megan looked for postcards, I found myself in the sweets department (shocker). Though we're Jayhawks, Megan and I couldn't help but smile when we saw these little pig cookies.}

{This little piggy made it home to Kansas with me...but didn't last much longer once I got settled into my apartment after the long ride home.}
