Anna Wintour is coming to Kansas City tonight in the form of the highly anticipated Fashion’s Night Out, an annual mega shopping party the Vogue editor-in-chief organized in 2009 to encourage people to get out and shop to support the fashion industry and the economy.
For some reason, orders from Anna Wintour to go shopping to stimulate the economy resonate with me a little better than similar suggestions from G-Dub. Perhaps she is a bit more intimidating convincing.
In KC proper, shop and dine at Zona Rosa, the Country Club Plaza and in the Power & Light District. Each of these areas will have special entertainment, refreshments, giveaways, fashion shows and more to keep you happy and hydrated. In the KC suburbs, check out Stiletto Boutique for an extended shopping night.
Be sure to buy official Fashion’s Night Out merch at Zona Rosa — it’s the only KC location with the official shirts, hats and totes that range from $15 to $50.
If you want to run into me, I’ll be shopping (and sipping) at these Plaza locations:
BCBG Max Azria: BCBG will be serving bubbly and drawing a winner for its $2,500 wardrobe giveaway.
Betsey Johnson: Betsey Johnson will be serving bubbly and sweets, snapping photo booth pics, giving Origins makeovers and hosting a giveaway.
If you don’t find me at either of these stores, I’ll probably be dancing in the streets at the Plaza block party, where there will be DJs, bands, a big $1,000 giveaway, makeovers and herds of gorgeous models strutting around in sky-high heels (this is the one night it’s OK to gawk at ladies, boys). When I get tired, I may have to take a free carriage ride around the Plaza or relax and let some Fabio-like masseuse give me a free chair massage.
Do you live in one of the 100 cities celebrating Fashion’s Night Out? What are you doing tonight? Tell me in the comments section.
