12 days until christmas: opi sparkle-icious holiday nail polish

Christmas is less than two weeks away! Between all of your mad-dash holiday shopping, I hope you can spare an hour to yourself for a relaxing “me time” treat: getting your nails done.

I haven’t treated myself to a professional mani/pedi since I started my new job in September, so I feel like I’m long overdue for a pick-me-up session at my favorite nail salon. I’m eager to try some new nail polish colors from OPI’s 2010 holiday line, Burlesque — particularly “Sparkle-icious,” which I first noticed on the hands of the shoe saleslady at Nordstrom a few weeks ago.

I like the versatility of Sparkle-icious. Wear it alone with just two coats for a light glitter effect. Layer it on (3-4 coats) for a blingy, sparkly effect (below). Or, top off your favorite nail color with a coat of Sparkle-icious to add a little glam to your nails.

Unfortunately, I missed out on the opportunity to rock the Sparkle-icious for my company holiday party last weekend (just didn’t have enough time to make it to the nail salon). I think the next great occasion for this fun OPI nail color is Christmas — layered over Essie’s Really Red — or new year’s, alone, in multiple coats for that disco-ball effect.

What do you think about the new Burlesque line from OPI or glittery/sparkly nails in general? Overdone? Refreshing? Leave me a comment and tell me some of your favorite nail polish colors and brands!
