cupcake taste test | babycakes | kansas city, missouri

Since I started my new job in downtown Kansas City, I’ve been searching out all the wonderful shops and eateries in my area. You could probably predict how excited I was to find that BabyCakes, which dubs itself as “Kansas City’s original cupcake shop,” is only five minutes away.

{This way to BabyCakes! I want this sign in my kitchen.}

My first cupcake from BabyCakes was a tasty caramel with dulce de leche buttercream frosting. It was a simple, pretty cupcake—like something your mom would whip up in the kitchen—and the understated, light frosting was perfect for an after-lunch treat. Regular cupcakes set you back $2.25, but you can also order minis starting at $10 a dozen, or jumbos at $3.95 a pop.

I think I’ll have to mix and match minis starting in November—birthday month!—so I can sample the other exciting seasonal flavors BabyCakes has to offer: hello pumpkin and egg nog cupcakes!

I also have a lot of “hard work” to do this month scouting cupcakeries in my new home of Overland Park, Kansas. Lucky for me, my apartment is also within walking distance of two other cupcakeries. I’ll be sampling treats from them this week as I plan out where I’ll have my birthday cupcakes from this year. I’m thinking cupcakes and cocktails…yeah? :)
